I breed my grouse for breeding stock for organisations and individuals, for conservation and release projects or for individuals who just want the pleasure of having these birds in their own collections.
This website is to give you the opportunity to see and maybe learn a little about the birds I keep and how conservation and education can help give these birds a future on the moors and in the countryside.
Alistair Mackie
Being born and brought up in the countryside, nature was never far away from my doorstep. My first twelve years of growing up was spent living on an estate, it was there I developed an interest in the breeding and husbandry of ornamental and game birds.
Beginning with bantums, ducks and geese I then progressed onto rare quails, pheasants, partridge, francolins and now for the past 8 years my passion has been grouse.
The grouse species have a certain allure and challange for me as their character, behaviour and beauty cannot fail to impress. In my collection at present I have 8 species of grouse from the biggest (the Capercaillie) to the smallest (the Canadian Spruce).
